This wonderful organization works tirelessly to assist attorneys defending child abuse cases. Most of their emphasis is on finding good scientific evidence for criminal accusations, but for a civil case, Kim Hart, the director, knows more good attorneys all around the country than any other one person in the United States, except perhaps for her excellent staff. Also, she does trial consulting herself for attorneys on cases, and she'll make referrals to desperate parents as well.
Don't bother them if the allegation is drug abuse, or alcoholism, and you're guilty. Get help yourself. They won't help, and likely I couldn't help anyone either.
She also puts on a "Continuing Legal Education" seminar yearly for child abuse defense attorneys. Three days, 23 - 24 CLE hours, exhausting, and more educational than any other activity an attorney could do to. It's usually in the fall.
For 2003, it will be held at the Landmark hotel in New Orleans, March 13 - 15. Registration info is on the Web.
